A dining table concealing a flat-pack chess set, wine glasses set in stones and a healthy dose of Ferrari-themed ephemera decorated this evolving Copenhagen apartment, both designed and inhabited by Charlotte Taylor during 3 Days of Design.

London-based Taylor created a liveable installation within one of the two rentable Noura Residency apartments on Sankt Peders Stræde to showcase a selection of eclectic pieces by more than 60 established and emerging designers and brands.

Called Home from Home, the project was more than a showroom. It served as Taylor's accommodation for the design week, where she slept, ate and hosted friends. This brought to life an intentionally shifting space that made everyday use of all its furniture and products.

"Particularly for 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, where everything can feel a bit safe and clean, I wanted to bring a bit of a chaotic mood to it," Taylor told Dezeen during a tour of the installation.

"Something very lived-in with a touch of tacky, because that's very on brand for me," she laughed, nodding to the various Ferrari-themed mugs and lighters strewn across the space.

Spread across two open-plan levels, the apartment featured a low-slung timber bed on the upper floor, flanked by a duo of horned aluminium lamps by design duo Apohli.

Opposite this sleeping area, the living space was finished with a selection of contemporary and vintage pieces, including a 1960s boxy timber armchair that was sourced from a furniture dealer in Amsterdam.

Alongside the seat was a polished and hammered aluminium coffee table by Berlin designer Lisa Cipriano, debossed with playful fruit-shaped motifs.

"I wanted to bring a range of designers of very different styles – some recently graduated, some more established, but for them to sit in the same space as a Ferrari mug as well," explained Taylor.

Home from Home was designed to be "something very lived-in with a touch of tacky"

Downstairs, the kitchen was anchored by a two-tone oak and walnut dining table. Taylor and designer Shelia Llovet fitted the furniture with a flat-packed chess set that slots into its side and is released via a subtle push-pull mechanism.

"When stowed away, the set was designed to simply read as joinery," said Taylor.

More "tacky" touches were featured in this cooking space, including a Campari-bottle magnet fixed to the fridge alongside a heart-shaped photo of Dante and Wolfgang, Taylor's beloved cats.

Opposite the kitchen, another dining area included an eclectic cluster of timber and metal chairs surrounding a table topped with books, Mo Tong Yang's delicate "candle parasol" and wine glasses set in stone by designer Diego Sánchez Barceló.

Office within Home from Home installation at 3 Days of Design
Taylor also set up a working office in the apartment

"The stylings reflect a life lived here," said Taylor. "So in the morning, there'll be more of a breakfast scene, and for the evenings we've made an improvised bar outside."

Taylor also set up a working office in the apartment, furnished in a similarly lively fashion to the rest of the home, to allow visitors a window into her design process.

Furniture at 3 days of design
The designer is "interested in everything in the creative spectrum"

"I'm interested in everything in the creative spectrum," said Taylor, considering her increasingly multidisciplinary work. "My practice is all over the place in terms of food, furniture and sound. So I really wanted to bring it together for one show."

3 Days of Design concluded on 20 June, following a slew of shows that celebrated furniture by emerging as well as established designers.

3 Days of Design 2025 took place from 18 to 20 June across eight districts in Copenhagen, Denmark. For more information about events, exhibitions and talks, visit Dezeen Events Guide.
