Dezeen Showroom: designed for specification in hospitals and care settings, the Silicone Cheer fabric by Designtex aims to bring a feeling of positivity into interior spaces.
Silicone Cheer is a 100 per cent silicone upholstery textile that is part of Designtex's Joy collection – a high-performance range based on scientific studies into the connection between aesthetics and happiness.
In the case of Silicone Cheer, this manifests in the form of an exuberant pattern of overlapping, multicoloured circles based on lilypads.
The pattern comes in seven different colourways – depending on which is chosen, the fabric has an overall energising or soothing impression.
One of the colours, Kaleidoscope, evokes the look of confetti, while others, such as Fossil and Soar, have more earthy and muted tones that conjure images of natural landscapes.
According to Designtex, Silicone Cheer exceeds industry standard requirements for non-toxic fabrics and has no PVC, PFAS, antimicrobials or flame retardants.
It is Greenguard Gold certified and its silicone composition allows it to be used outdoors.
