Ripple sofa by Askia Furniture

Dezeen Showroom: Romanian brand Askia Furniture has launched the modular Ripple sofa collection, named after its ruched edges that are designed to emulate draped fabric.

Ripple is designed primarily for use in office interiors, with easily reconfigurable components to tailor to changing needs in the workplace. Its components can be used to form sofas for multiple sitters, or as standalone seats.

"The Ripple Collection is a soft seating system designed for the office yet inspired by the comfort of home," said Askia Furniture. "Bid farewell to rigid dull settings – welcome a collection that fosters comfort and creativity in every arrangement."

Each modular component features cushions slotted into a solid black frame. They are all lined with soft fabric and finished with chunky French seams for a relaxed look.

End components are also distinguished by their ruched edges, described by Askia Furniture as ripples "inspired by fashion", and designed to further the inviting and homely aesthetic.

"Delicate ripples and relaxed edges mimic the elegance of draped fabric, creating a sense of movement, a unique interplay between texture and form," it said.

"The Ripple softens the atmosphere of any conventional space, making it more inviting and less rigid."
