A geometric structure that widens as it rises and is covered in louvres by British architecture studio Foster + Partners has topped out in Miami.

Renderings of the project show a geometric building clad in metallic trim and a series of louvres that climb up the facade. At its base, the corners of the building jut outwards, while the tower also expands as it ascends.

According to Fosters + Partners, its shape is constituted by two prisms that intersect at the second level of the building to create spaces at the bottom and top of the tower,

"The building's striking form is composed of two interlocking prisms," said the studio. "The form conveys a sense of balance and generates spectacular spaces at the base and top of the tower, where the bank will host its clients."

The glazed facade will be constructed using steel and anodised aluminium, while "warmer natural materials" such as timber and limestone will clad interior spaces.

On the interior, an 11-metre-tall (37-foot-tall) lobby will be outfitted with informal seating and an elevator bay towards the west side of the building, with views of the ocean facing east.

The uppermost floor will serve as an executive level with client meeting rooms, boardrooms, executive offices, and a lounge area and the building's roof terrace will contain additional public spaces, such as a bar.

"We are delighted to see this landmark project reaching such a significant milestone," said Foster + Partners head of studio Grant Brooker.

"3050 Aventura Boulevard will make a unique contribution to Miami's cityscape and sets a new benchmark for high quality workspace in the city, with its extremely generous floor-to-ceiling heights and outstanding views."

Foster + Partners is serving as design architect on the project, while local studio ODP Architects is architect of record.

Recently completed projects nearby in Miami include the Museum of Sex by Snøhetta and an Apple store made with mass timber.
