Dezeen Showroom: German brand Poggenpohl aimed to celebrate carpentry and craftsmanship in the design of this kitchen, which references wall panelling and inlay decoration.
The drawers of the Diamond kitchen feature an angular, recessed arrangement of wooden planes that form a landscape of seamless joins and dynamic interplays of light and shadow.
The kitchen was originally created as a concept that Poggenpohl says was intended to showcase the brand's "ability to produce exacting furniture" and "lead the industry with the most beautiful and thoughtful design practices".
The kitchen is now on display at its headquarters in Herford, Germany and the brand intends to bring it to market in summer 2025.
The concept design is made in natural oak but the kitchen will be able to be ordered in a choice of woods and colours.
Poggenpohl is a continuation of a family carpentry business founded in 1892 by Friedemir Poggenpohl and is believed to be the world's oldest kitchen brand. Its designs have predated the development of fitted kitchens and unit kitchens.
