Promotion: Cupaclad is a slate-based cladding system by Spanish brand Cupa Pizarras designed to provide a sustainable alternative to conventional facades.
Cupa Pizarras' Cupaclad system has a natural, grey appearance. It aims to protect and insulate a building from the elements while being a stylish and practical choice for any architectural project.
"For a facade that combines elegance, performance, and sustainability, Cupaclad is the natural choice," said Cupa Pizarras.
"With a diverse range of rainscreen cladding solutions and direct-apply options, Cupaclad provides architects, builders, and homeowners with the perfect system to achieve their unique design vision."
Cupa Pizarras explained that slate is an ideal solution for residential projects, giving designers a "durable, sustainable and high-performance cladding option".
According to the brand, home exteriors are constantly exposed to difficult environmental conditions such as rain, frost and wind. Its natural slate facades are designed to be impact-resistant to temperature changes, non-combustible and not fade with time.
"This means homeowners can enjoy peace of mind with superior fire resistance and a façade that doesn't require frequent maintenance or repainting," said the brand. "Each slate used in Cupaclad systems is carefully selected for its technical properties and natural beauty, ensuring an outstanding finish for any project."
"Slate is a completely natural product with unbeatable technical properties that provide considerable added value to any facade project."
The system currently comes in two varieties: Cupaclad 101, which uses invisible fixings making the slate the main feature of the facade; and Cupaclad 102, which has a faster installation process but uses visible fixings.
Cupaclad was recently used to adorn a weekend retreat home in Spring Lake, New Jersey. The slate cladding system was chosen to give the property's exterior a stylish earthy look while withstanding the state's weather conditions.
The slating system was also used in Conservatory Apartments – a large-scale affordable housing project in Chicago, USA.
The system was picked to enhance the building's overall energy performance and align with the city's push towards net zero construction as the slate is not treated with chemicals or fired, according to Cupa Pizarras.
Cupa Pizarras' products have been used in projects across five continents and 60 countries.
The brand has offices in a range of locations including the UK, USA, France and Denmark.
