Promotion: bathroom manufacturer Kaldewei has teamed up with industrial designer Stefan Diez for e15 to create a range of minimalist furniture and accessories described as "practical and clever".

Meant to complement Kaldewei's line of glazed-titanium steel bathtubs, the furniture was designed by Munich-based Stefan Diez with furniture manufacturer e15 in a tie-up between the German brands.

The collection comprises a variety of accessories made from leather and European oak that rests on and around the products such as the Meisterstück Oyo Duo bathtub from Kaldewei, a fourth generation family business going back over 100 years.

Diez utilised his extensive experience in industrial design to create objects such as two-legged stools and benches, towel racks, a bathtub bridge, and a footboard – all made from wood.

These light woods were paired with accessories made from objects made with soft, water-resistant leather in beige – such as the towel strap and towel patch. According to Kaldewei, the leather was responsibly sourced.

Kaldewei said that the partnership with e15 made sense, both because of the brand's shared commitment to sustainable products and because of Diez's history of developing products for each, separately, in the past.

The pieces are minimal and highly functional

"In addition to their strong passion for sustainable materials and products, both manufacturers are linked by their collaboration with the German designer Stefan Diez," said Kaldewei.

"Diez has already made a name for himself with his '10 theses for good design' and is responsible for the creative design of the e15 for Kaldewei furniture and accessories presented as well as for Kaldewei bathroom products."

Diez created his precision using handcraft techniques and with the precision of a designer who has been honing his craft for decades and who draws on a family lineage of four generations of carpenters.

Beyond being aesthetically appealing, each piece serves a specific function and was designed especially to work with Kaldewei's products.

Both "practical and clever", according to the brand, the leather goods have magnetic elements designed to attach directly to the enamelled-steel tubs so that bathers can have their towels on hand when needed and don't need to worry about them getting dry while enjoying a bath in Kaldewei's sleek tubs.

Diez also designed the wooden elements to eliminate hassle.

The bathtub bridge, which can hold food and other items, was designed with a recess to allow for better handling and also features a hidden, built-in magnet that allows for the object to retain its minimal appearance while remaining affixed to the side of the tub.

Meanwhile, the footboard, called BASE, is thick to provide support and features a ridged construction that makes it "float" above the floor, allowing air to pass through and dry the ground underneath when wet.

The materials and shapes of the collection complement Kaldewei's sleek tubs

"With substantial material thickness along with traditional joinery details, BASE frames the bathing experience whilst generating an aesthetic addition for the bathroom," said Kaldewei.

"The dove tale construction allows the footboard to float and stay elevated above the floor, allowing for air circulation and better drying of the wood."

The objects can be purchased individually or as a set.
